“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude” (Happiness Quotes). Many people go through life wondering when they will find happiness. Maybe they think it stems from that expensive pair of shoes or the trip to the beach. It turns out that many people look in all the wrong places. I may not have reached my peak in life, but I do know the ways in which a person can come closer to achieving happiness. It doesn’t come from any materialistic possession, but rather on how you live. When humans start eradicating all of the negative impacts on their life, they can start on their journey towards a more positive outlook. When people dwell on every obstacle that stands in their way, their path to happiness is obstructed. On these trips, I have learned the value in giving back to those in need. Seeing people in these downtrodden environments really makes you evaluate your life and all that you have. I live a precious life surrounded by family, friends, a stable home, regular food input, and education. I go on these trips to help, to pay it forward, and yet I receive so much in return. I receive lessons of leadership, teamwork, hospitality, and love, so much love. These impoverished people offer so much more to the world than what is regularly thought. They have taught me what it truly means to be happy. Some people have the amazing ability to change the way you think about yourself, how you interact with others, and the world around you.
