To define poetry, is to limit what it may be and how it is to be constructed. But what I can do is describe what poetry is to me. Poetry is any spoken or written constructs that allow the writer and the readers the ability to emotionally connect to the words to foster a feeling inside of them whether it is a positive or negative one. As my classmate Quentin Reed said, “Poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen”. I agree with his statement because the two are mutually exclusive because poetry is not a painting and vice versa. But the truth being that the two do cause similar stimulations in the brain, but the route that causes these feeling begins with a different start point. Throughout the piece, the speaker continuously lists all of the positives that being in crowds can bring about, while also listing in detail the negatives that straying from crowds can bring into your life. The way that the speaker describes the benefits of being in a crowd seem odd, but nevertheless still benefits. The speaker also states that one who decides not venture into the crowds is like a “slothful man like a mollusk in his shell”. I can relate to what the speaker is saying because I am someone that thrives in crowds and being in front of large amounts of people. This poem reinforces my feeling with how I feel about speaking in crowds and meeting new people in situations with a large group of people. With this feeling that the speaker gives me, this makes me feel that he/she has achieved the goal of forcing people to see the positives of embracing being in a crowd. By using the examples that the speaker presented, it would force any reader to look at the other side of the coin and see the possible benefits that they could be
