However, since this “middle” is a really long period of time, it’s important that we find something that makes it worth living. Relationships, when of the right kind, can add a lot to life. This is what a lot of people say when they need an answer to why they do not have healthy family relationships. Then again, do you REALLY get to choose your group of friends either? No. The globe is not your playfield. Instead you get thrust into a school or a workplace or a neighborhood and the people from there end up being the people you call your friends. As established earlier, relationships have to bring you joy. They also have to nourish you and have the capability to uplift your soul. A relationship is equal to “love”. Most love is based on expectations. It is essential to know what “true love” is since it is a part of a healthy relationship. True love is unconditional. It is not based on expectation and follows the basic principal of “I love you no matter what.”.This, true love, is the essence of life and is what makes it a journey worth living. When we think of unconditional love, we can think of a relationship like mother and child. The mother’s love for the child is not affected by anything and only increases. In spite of the child neglecting and disrespecting the mother at certain times, she still loves him or her. This brings us back to the idea of a family and we can conclude that true love is also based on forgiveness, which is what the mother gave to the son or daughter. Man is a social animal and needs relationships. Family is extremely important because they are your first and only unbreakable relationship. Family teaches you the whole concept of making relationships, which you will use later, when put into the real world. Family will protect you, unconditionally love you and put in their best efforts to cure your sadness. They are one of the most precious relationships and teach you the art of forming bonds with other people. They are with you right from birth and made you the person you are. Connecting with other people around us is essential and increases our sense of well being. As the great Dalai Lama said, “The need for love lies at the foundation of human existence and is a result of the profound interdependence in nature. “From the second you are born, parent’s provide you with this love. A parent’s love and compassion is very important and should be valued. Whether or not one decides to take complete responsibility of his or her parents when he or she is older, they need to respect the concept of unconditional love and the balance between giving and taking so that they can carry forward this interdependence. Having this kind of relationship can help one when it comes to relationship making for the rest of his or her life and help you break down and understand the root of relationships which is help you achieve overall
