In many countries today, the word "deforestation" is being used to a greater extent to show the effects of global warming, agricultural expansion, and urbanization. Environmentalists and scientists have said that deforestation is fake and only happens in "poor" countries; however, in Australia, deforestation is becoming a significant problem and is getting worse as time goes on. Australia is the most developed country experiencing deforestation, but many countries could follow. Deforestation in Australia is becoming a serious problem because it is causing Australia’s food levels to decrease significantly, impacts the natural habitats of plants and animals, and has led to gas emissions increasing exponentially.
To begin, the ongoing agricultural

People in our general society as well as larger companies fail to recognize the full value of forest biodiversity and ecosystem services. As a result, alternative land uses that produce greater short-term benefits frequently take the place of forests. Deforestation is mostly brought on by agriculture, mining, and infrastructure projects, as well as more intense and frequent fires, all over the world. While destructive logging techniques and unethical wood harvesting can cause significant deforestation, new roads offer up woodlands to people and cultivation. These new techniques and innovations being produced are becoming the main causes that are making deforestation more significant all around the world. In Australia, agricultural expansion, particularly for beef cattle production, is the major influence of tree-clearing as stated in the World Wildlife Fund article, Tree Clearing . Habitats of animals in Australia, such as the native koalas and kangaroos, are being destroyed and are forcing the animals to relocate to other places, which can lead to animals dying from the loss of shelter and starvation. Bushfires are also implicated in forest loss, and are expected to increase in frequency and intensity due to climate change. In Asia, clearing for oil palm and pulp plantations has had a terrible impact. In Southeast Asia, fire …show more content…
State and federal governments in Australia started enacting protections for forests and bushlands in the early 1990s. Included in this are protected areas and rules against clearing land that were applicable to the majority of land tenures. This resulted in a dramatic decrease in land clearing and deforestation rates by the 2000s. However, in recent years, land clearing restrictions in some Australian states have been scaled back or significantly undermined, and other places still lack adequate protections. Conservationists are trying their best to make conservation efforts, however, they don’t work because people don’t follow through with them and keep cutting down forests. Land clearing rates have thus started to increase all around the nation. A significant conservation initiative is the newly renewed Tasmanian Regional Forest Agreement, the first to be extended for a rolling 20-year term. In the book Towards Zero Deforestation, it is stated that "To protect all of the Australian forests people and companies need to start to stop cutting down trees as a form of renewable energy. We also need to transform deforested and degraded landscapes and ensure there is no direct offsetting of fossil
