Deforestation in the Amazon When the words Amazon Rainforest are mentioned, the first couple of things that come to mind are nature, wild life, and culture etc. This is because Amazon Rainforest is home to about thirty percent of the entire species on Earth, such as animals and plants. Unfortunately, mankind has destroyed a large percentage of the rainforest in a process called deforestation, also known as clear-cutting. Deforestation in the amazon has had a great impact to the ecosystem and its biodiversity. It has caused loss of habitat, extinction of its native animals, and degradation of the soil; the complete after math is not yet determined, but scientist state it has an impact on many factors such as biodiversity, and global warming. The Amazon rainforest is home to a large complex of species, animals and plants. Deforestation is not only the cutting, logging, or burning of trees, but is also the destruction of habitats at a fast rate. The reason why the Amazon rainforest is such a big target is because the soil is rich and full of nutrients. These benefits countries such as Brazil, who has now, became the second largest distributor of beef with the cattle farms in the Amazon, by raising the income and reducing the debt of the country as a whole. Instead of positive outcomes, when you cut down the soil and leave it bare, it only causes it to lose its rich nutrients that are first intentionally thought would help grow crops faster and healthier. There is further impact than just the loss of nutrients; there is also a large amount of increased soil erosion. The agricultural planted plants were not meant to stop soil and the reduction of the Amazon trees causes the soil to flow through places such as lakes and rivers, which also causes water
