From the departure, the initiation, and the return home, many familiar stories follow the hero's journey. One such story is from the movie The Clash of the Titans which follows the journey of Perseus as he searches for a way to defeat the fearsome Kraken that threatens to destroy humanity.
Odysseus, Theseus, Perseus, and Hercules share Greek hero’s characteristics. They executed astonishing triumphs, has their own key flaw, and carry strong animalistic passions. The Greeks look up to these heroes and view them being worthy of veneration because of their victorious accomplishments, but there are individuals who are abashed because of their lascivious and unethical actions. In their journeys, they learn how to overcome their animalistic passions and helps us to see what Greek civilization is about.
Persepolis Reflective Statement In the graphic novel Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi incorporates the theme of rebellion throughout the novel. She emphasizes that rebellion is key to her coming of age story and is important to everyone’s coming of age story. The first sign of rebellion is when she wants to be a prophet, women didn’t work, let alone become prophets, she establishes in this moment that she was different from everyone else. Her parents play an important role in her rebellion, they encourage her to rebel, to be “avant garde” (6/1).

When I was in elementary school we were required to wear uniforms. I remember being frustrated at having my freedom of what to wear cut down so drastically from what I was accustomed to. As I grew older and I began to take more interest in my appearance uniforms became even more and more of a frustration to me.
