The taiga biome has many marvelous elements that make this biome unique and in the taiga has one special animal, and that animal is the Lynx. Appleton Arkansas Most people in Arkansas would not even think of Appleton nowadays. Appleton is a small town, but it was not always like that. It was once the second largest town in the Pope County District, but it all started with the beginning of Appleton. Not a lot of people know but Appleton was once called Sulpher Springs.
Yosemite and the Golbi Desert, two very iconic and historical landscapes, both verbally illustrated by different authors in their own articles. The two authors, John Muir and Timothy Severin, have their own style of writing, which do have differences from each other. It's almost as if you were to compare the imaginative mind of a five-year old to a more grown teenager. Both authors have very effective forms of description, but they wouldn’t be able to serve the same purpose. For example, if they were to have to write a script for a commercial, John Muir, author of the Yosemite author, would be more affective and attention grabbing.
It has fertile soil for growing crops. They have long growing seasons. They get lots of rain.
In the article “Water Worries Grow in the Desert Southwest,” Rice (2013) talks about climate changes and causes that impact on water in the desert Southwest. The author mentioned Native Americans, they used canals and dams to bring water since 10 centuries. Today, there are 56 million Americans growing up in Southwest and they have region’s natural dryness. Also, Arizona state has less rain every year around 7.5 inches. In addition, Colorado River is most important to help 30 million people in Southwest.
In the article "Cactus's at Risk" by Rebecca Katzman, it explains to us how cactus poaching is becoming more and more popular in the United States. The cactus's around are now in danger and the problem is becoming worse. The article says, "The sun goes down and a truck pulls up to a giant saguaro (sa-wah-ro) in the Sonoran Desert. Poachers wearing protective gloves dig up the cactus, wrap it in a carpet, and drive away." This evidence shows that now cactus poachers are snatching up cactus's and to stop it would be a very difficult task.
In a desert, you will find both a rattlesnake and cactus living in the harsh climate with very little rain. A cactus uses its thick skin of the stem with spines to keep unwanted animals from getting to the water that they store away. It uses its large underground root system to find water deep underground even when the topsoil is dry. The cactus also uses its thick stem to hold water to keep it alive.
The Mountains and Basins are the driest and windiest region in Texas. This region is located throughout west Texas and is mostly desert. The vegetation that can possibly thrive in this remote area are mesquite trees, mesquite grass, cacti, and desert brush. The climate is very dry and hot, and the unbearable temperatures of 120 degrees. If there is any rain it would just be 8-10 inches of rain per year.

The ecosystem that I found to be the most interesting is the Daintree Rainforest. This rainforest is estimated to be 180 million years old and has a very fascinating and distinctive land. The Daintree Rainforest is a tropical rainforest that is located on the north east coast of Queensland, Australia; taking up a total of 0.1 percent of Australia’s land mass. The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest existing tropical rainforest in the world and the biggest rainforest located in Australia, it is a total of over 1,200 square kilometers in size. This forest got its famous name from a man named Richard Daintree, a 19th century Australian geologist and photographer.
Riparian Vegetation: Can it influence the health of watercourses? Harley Laing-Dipple Queensland University of Technology ENB274 - Design of Environmentally Sustainable Systems ABSTRACT Riparian vegetation can be classified as vegetation that inhabits shorelines and banks of water systems. They typically consist of three zoned areas that further helps break up the characteristics of the vegetation present in the riparian buffer.

The “Dry World” refers to the North African and Southwest Asian region. This name does not portray the entirety of the region because the reality is the region has an incredibly diverse climate (and therefore land).Across North Africa and into eastern Iran lies a vast desert land. Whereas in the Atlas Mountains and the lowlands of Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia the Mediterranean climate allows for a lot of flora which makes the area resemble southern Spain. Needless to say, Southwest Asia and North Africa are more than desert—the humid and elevated areas provide a lot of biodiversity. One would think that these elevated areas are densely forested.
