Statistics Canada releases an annual report summarizing the crime that has happened and it presents the public with information about incidents of crime that have occurred in the past year (Allen, 2016 & Keighley, 2017). The Uniform Crime Report (UCR) Survey and General Social Survey (GSS) on Victimization are the two main sources that are used in collecting data on crime that has happened in Canada (Allen, 2016 & Keighley, 2017, pg. 4). The UCR Survey includes incidents that have been reported to the police and how it was dealt with, while the GSS Survey on Victimization includes both incidents that have been reported as well as ones that have not. Both surveys are used to collect data and form the annual report that Statistics Canada release.
Introduction In module 1 Chief of Police Stickle explained the development process, the organizational structure, and the organizational chart of the newly proposed Paradise Police Department. Historically, eyewitness accounts of a crime were a vital piece of evidence used in the prosecution of criminal offenses. Lineups were a method used where typically a group of individuals not involved in the crime along with the suspect whom is believed to be directly related to the crime are grouped together for the witness to review in the hopes to identify the suspect. This is accomplished in two ways, the first is simultaneous where several photos are grouped together at the same time (typically six) for the witness to review. This specific procedure raises the issue of certainty from the witness.
Since the beginning of recorded time, people have always wanted protection from danger. Real police work involves a police officer being able to serve and protect, police officers are suppose to enforce laws, maintain order and keep crime rate down. Like most crime shows, Criminal Minds has highly qualified technical analysts that ensure the police procedure is as true to real life as possible (Nevitt, 2015, p. 1). While the plotlines of this show are often unusual, these analysts work to accurately portray proper police practices. The consultants ensure common mannerisms and actions of police officers, like how to correctly apply handcuffs and hold guns, are correctly shown.
Having the same definitions and classifications for crimes allow for statistical comparisons between departments and various geographical areas. Crimes can have differing definitions and classifications.
Criminal Justice Psychologist The psychologist is a vital asset to the criminal justice system. The psychologist can examine victims, police officials and various witnesses thus making them ethically obligated to make the right decisions and evaluations. This essay will discuss the roles of psychologist as they work within the criminal justice system. I will Identify and describe the psychologists’ roles within the criminal justice system as it pertains to the applied scientist, the basic scientist, the policy evaluator, and the advocate.
The first thing that criminal profilers do is go to the crime scene and gain information about the crime scene, such as such as pictures and information about the area. While at the crime scene, they are being to try to put themselves in the mind of a criminal to see what they maybe feeling or thinking. There are 4 main things that they look at to gain information about the criminal, the antecedent, Methods and manner, body disposal and the post offense behavior. (Winermen). They evaluate the information and start to form their profile from the information.

The prison system is only thinking about money because they don't care the effect it has in people's life when they are sentenced unfairly. The U.S Prison system is unfair, and two of the most important aspects to understand about it are the war on drugs and racism. One important aspect of the U.S Prison system is the war on drugs and how they go to jail for an unreasonable amount of time for having a small amount of drugs on them and when they have to go to prison it affects the prisoner's family.

To begin, from the 1980 on through the year 1995, the incarceration rates among drug offenders increased by more than 1000 percent. Notably, by the year 1995 one out of every four inmates in any given correctional facility was a drug offender. In addition of that 1000 percent increase, drug offenders accounted for more than 80 percent of the total growth in the federal inmate population and 50 percent of the growth of the state prison population from 1985 to 1995 (Stith, web). The city's general Crime rate, particularly the violent crime rate, is generously higher than the US normal. The explanations behind the higher numbers in Chicago stay misty. An investigation in The Atlantic demonstrates no genuine proof of exact reasons, just speculation.

Imagine exploring these demented roads of psychology full time. For those who work in criminal profiling, this is a daily reality. John Douglas was a proficient FBI agent, whose many contributions to the investigation process have created a base for most strategies used by law enforcement today.
These profiles fall between psychology and law enforcement, some call it “investigative psychology” while another refers to it as “crime action profiling”. The main connection, the common goal they all share; help investigators examine evidence, narrow down a suspect pool, or give helpful tips on how to interrogate a suspect already in custody. Psychology is used to investigate behavioral patterns, personality traits, and psychopathologies. Demographic variables including age, race, and geographical locations are also used in the profiles. Recently criminologists, law enforcement officials, and psychologists have all teamed together to take criminal profiling, which started out as an art and transform it into a reliable science.
Deviance and crime is a common characteristic of Canadian society. Deviance is defined as: “recognized violation of cultural norms” (2013, pg.465). While crime is defined as: “recognized violation of society’s formally enacted criminal law” (2013, pg.464). There are some universal similarities about what we as humans consider morally deviant, still, what is regarded as deviant or criminal behavior in Canada may not resonate with other societies. Some behavior “can fall right in between deviant and criminal” (Healy, 2012).
