A cross-dressing, possibly homosexual young man in the 60’s was potentially the cause of a lot of unrest between people and artist. I’m fairly certain this photo by Diane Arbus caused a lot of controversy in 1966 and made a lot of people feel uncomfortable. The portrait is a gelatin silver print of a feminine young man and currently is housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. The first thing that pops out at you and keeps your attention are his large, tired dark eyes. There’s slight discoloration underneath his eyes that’s slightly masked due to cosmetics.
