In the book Pop, by Gordon Korman, the main character Marcus Gordon is new to the town. This football practitioner receives help from a former NFL linebacker, Charlie Popovich. The King of Pop teaches the rookie how to tackle hard and the fact why a 50 plus year NFL expert is helping a teenager with practice intrigues him. Along with some odd actions of Charlie's, Marcus does some research and results in learning that Charlie has Alzheimer's disease. Knowing that his poor friend cannot fend for himself, Marcus starts to do what is good for the linebacker, not caring about all the trouble he tackles along the way.
In the 19th century many debates raged on the correct way to showcase a women’s body in a painting. “What was the relationship between women’s moral and sexual nature?” (pg. 272), artist worked to find a balance between these two concepts. A successful combination of these two topics can be seen in the can be seen in Eclogue by artist Kenyon Cox. Cox’s painting depicts four women naked and partially clothed lounging about together in a field.
The way I think this quote relates to Long Long After School is that Wes,is almost like inspired by Miss Tretheway’s kindness towards him. The section that states, “the things we value” I believe that in the kind doing of Miss Tretheway’s actions, she really touched his life. Although in the text it never stated that he remained kind we can make an inference; since Wes visited her grave, this shows that she had some sort of impact in his life. “We set our goals and make our decisions” I suppose that throughout the years Wes established his goals and decisions on things that are good. So ”the things we value are the things which we set our goals and make our decisions” means, in relation to the text, is that Wes really valued Miss Tretheway

Of most prominence is his mouth and chin. As with a lot of representations of King Akhenaten, he is shown in a manner that depicts the fleshiness of his figure, even in his face. His eyes are the next distinct focus. The eyes are depicted in such a way that their thinness highlights even more the protuberant quality of his lips and chin with their unrealistic proportions and even more bizarre spatial placement. There is an element of the portrait that is almost brutal in its accuracy to real life figures.

Lucille was born in 1953 in The Philippines and raised in Manila, where she obtained her BFA. In 1973, she moved to the United States and began her studies in California College of Arts and Crafts (now CCA).

The two pieces of art I will discuss is Edouard Manet’s ‘Olympia’ and Mary Cassatt 's ‘Woman in Black at the Opera’. Manet’s Olympia was not critically accepted, the reaction to his painting was negative, only four critics out of sixty were favorably disposed to Olympia. Olympia was a derivative of Titian 's Venus. In 1863 the critics and the viewers didn’t know how to take Olympia, “they were unable to cope with so many novel factors and so they were unable to categorize the picture and so were unable to analyze it or understand it in any context” (Laurence, 2012). Nowadays we are more open minded and are able to see the painting in a different light.

Surprisingly, Marilyn Monroe, Barbie and beauty pageants became very popular even though they challenged the image of an ideal woman at the time by portraying more beauty and sexuality. The novel ‘Nada’ written by Carmen Laforet is a twisted heart-breaking tale about a year in the life of the 18-year-old female protagonist Andrea. Throughout this year, Andrea spends in Barcelona with her relatives, she developed various relationships, both homosexual and heterosexual. For the purpose of this essay I will discuss Andrea’s highly affective homosexual relationships with her best friend Ena and her aunt Gloria and how she views and describes both woman differently. I will also briefly contrast her homosexual relationships with that of her heterosexual relationships with Pons and her uncle Román. I will begin with discussing Adrea’s relationship with Gloria, as this relationship began before her relationship with Ena did.

Children have an unparalleled view of the world, one that is very innocent and magical. Unfortunately, as children grow up they often lose this wonder. However, some adults do keep some aspects of their childhood wonder and happiness. Throughout the film Mary Poppins, as directed by Robert Stevenson, there is a noticeable difference between the adults that preserved their sense of wonder and those who have lost it. Through the development of the characters, Bert and Mr. Banks, Stevenson illuminates the need to preserve some of the childlike wonder, as one grows up, in order to be happy within their adult life.
