In the books The Diary of Anne Frank, Night, and Maus the same story is being told but it is told in different ways. The genre for The Diary of Anne Frank is written in play form. The genre for Night is written in novel form, and the genre for Maus is written in graphic novel form. They are telling different stories but they are on the same topic. It can be interpreted in many different ways. Since they are written differently, they can impact readers in very different ways. Different genres of literature can impact the way stories are written and interpreted. A person can read two different works on the same topic, but written in different genres, and get different thoughts out of each one. She still saw good in the people that made her hide away for two years, and eventually killed her. Anne was happy when they got taken to the concentration camp because she was able to be in fresh air. Her being able to go outside and enjoy the sunshine made her forever grateful. In the play it says, “Anne was happy in the camp in Holland where they first took us. After two years of being shut up in these rooms, she could be out . . . out in the sunshine and the fresh air that she loved.”(?? ??). That shows she was happy to be in the sunshine and not just watching it. Her father, Otto is astounded when he realizes that she still saw good in everyone, because he did not see good in any of the people that killed, tortured, hurt, and traumatized so many people, including his family. He does not see how anyone can see past all of that and still see that they are good people deep down. This impacted me because I don't know how it feels being locked up inside for so long. Spiegelman was telling a story of how his father was trying to keep him out of the army. Mr. Spiegelman’s father put him on a starvation diet three months before they were drafting soldiers. He was only able to eat salted herring and water for three months so he looked unhealthy. If he looked unhealthy his father thought he would have a lower chance of being drafted into the army. Mr. Spiegelman passed the medical checks for the first time but the doctor told him he had a year to get healthier. Instead of going on the starvation diet again he chose to go into the army because he thought he was strong enough to handle it. This impacted me because I do not think I would have been able to put myself through that starvation diet. I don't think I would be able to eat the same thing everyday for three months and it is not even a lot. I also do not think I would have the courage to decide to go into the army during that terrible time.(I don't know how to add text evident for graphic
