The article, “Shopping Trumps Turkey”, by Gregory Karp, argues between whether or not retailers should initiate Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving day. Karp considers that retailers should not commence the sales a day earlier. I agree with the author, due to the fact that the retailers that begin the sales on Thanksgiving day are careless and greedy, along with commanding people to not spend time with their families. Clearly, retailers should not release Black Friday sales a day earlier. To start off, experts say that the saying of retailers opening because the consumers are asking them to is false.

Tracey Lindberg’s novel Birdie is narratively constructed in a contorting and poetic manner yet illustrates the seriousness of violence experience by Indigenous females. The novel is about a young Cree woman Bernice Meetoos (Birdie) recalling her devasting past and visionary journey to places she has lived and the search for home and family. Lindberg captures Bernice’s internal therapeutic journey to recover from childhood traumas of incest, sexual abuse, and social dysfunctions. She also presents Bernice’s self-determination to achieve a standard of good health and well-being. The narrative presents Bernice for the most part lying in bed and reflecting on her dark life in the form of dreams.
In response to a flaw found in the school system, the author of “The Early Bird Gets the Bad Grade”, Nancy Kalish argues that in order for teenage students to reach their full potential and perform well throughout the school day, their early mornings should start later. In her article, she supports this argument by appealing to her readers using emotional appeals, asking rhetorical questions, and providing expert opinions. To begin, in the first paragraph, Kalish uses an emotional appeal, to appeal to her readers and impact their view of her argument. For example, she states, “many of them [teenagers] stayed up late the night before, but not because they wanted to.” Saying this she is relating to teenage students and emphasizing their frustration

Bird by Bird is a novel reflecting on Anne Lamott’s writing technique. She reflects on her writing to help other writers with their own processes. She uses her childhood as the pretext for what made her want to become a writer. Lamott talks about how her dad getting brain cancer, aloud her to write her first book to be published and how she felt after it was published and reviewed. She describes her thoughts on the writing process and her techniques she uses.

Dr. Meyers, Hello! I hope your Thanksgiving was rejuvenating and enjoyable with family and friends. This is Angelia (Angel) Hirsch from the summer practicum course through Liberty University. I am not certain what happened over the week of Thanksgiving, but our house (which is a 125 year-old historical home, really a niche market, not many want to deal with the special things that come along with the age and up keep) suddenly went into high demand and we had numerous offers come in on Wednesday!
Outdated stereotypes create forced expectations and affect people for the worst. This is a common theme between “Turkeys in the Kitchen” by Dave Barry and “The Myth of the Latin Woman: I Just Met a Girl Named Maria” by Judith Ortiz Cofer. These works deal with stereotypes of gender and ethnicity, as well as how they are interpreted on the receiving end. Turkeys in the Kitchen deals with gender through anecdotes about cooking, and how the stereotypes of men and women in the kitchen persist post-women’s-liberation. “The Myth of the Latin Woman” deals with Puerto Rican stereotypes through anecdotes about how she is treated differently as a woman for her ethnicity, and how she is prematurely judged by her Puerto Rican behavior and ethnicity.
“The very genetics of our birds are radically different,” Safran Foer explains (250). Today’s turkeys are pumped with antibiotics, bred in captivity and unable to reproduce sexually, while the turkeys at the time of the first Thanksgiving would have been free to roam and live their life naturally. (Safran Foer 250). The only hard part of their lives was when they were killed. In contrast, today’s turkeys spend their entire lives imprisoned and living in harsh conditions, making it inhumane to keep raising them for their meat.
In addition, the author clarifies how the Animals ate all the food, which caused the Stag ro starve to death. This advocates how the Animals didn’t bother to help the Stag recover from the illness. In the passage
There is one thing in the woods that is really exciting and that is turkey hunting. Turkeys will get your heart racing and you blood rushing and have you shaking in just five seconds. When he comes up there strutting,spitting,and drumming, that’s when it gets real. When you hit that “yawt yawt” and he cuts you off gobbling that is when you know that he is just as good as dead. I am gonna tell plenty of turkey hunting experiences that i have had so i do not have to have a works cited page or nothing.
Eugenics is the science of using artificial selection to improve genetic features of the population. It is thought that improvement of the human race can be seen through sterilization of people who exhibit undesirable traits and selective breeding. Often called Social Darwinism, the concept was widely accepted during the time of World War I. It quickly became a taboo after World War II when Nazi Germany used it as an excuse for genocide. The thought of improving the human race by manipulating who is allowed to breed can either be appalling or compelling.
