1. The Archaic period went from around 800-480 BC. Notable persons from this time include Homer, who is best known for writing the Iliad and the Odyssey, and Pythagoras who contributed much to philosophy and mathematics. Classical Greece ranged from about 510-323 BC. During this time, the Persian and Peloponnesian wars occurred which had long lasting effects on the development of Greek for centuries to come.
Troy is precise in its portrayal of the setting and the intensity of the Trojan war. Nevertheless, the reason to why the war occurred has many believable theories. The story was written by a very famous Greek writer and poet, Homer, the author of the well-known Iliad and Odyssey. The source of the Movie Troy came from the Iliad, an epic poem written by Homer around 800 B.C., despite that the actual war occurred 400 years before.
The Iliad depicts the Greek perspective on war against the city of Troy in Anatolia during the 12th century BCE. Homer was also famous for the Odyssey, which recounted the experiences of the Greek hero Odysseus as he sailed home after the Trojan War. The Odyssey was written between 700 B.C.E and 800 B.C.E. The Odyssey was told to tell all about Odysseus, King of Ithaca, son of Laertes and Anticleia. Odysseus has to go through a serious journey with all kinds of gods and goddesses to get him back to Ithaca but he has to do things that make him stop along the journey. He does some not good things while he is on his trip. He is on this trip to become an epic hero, but Odysseus encounters some gods/ goddesses that make him not do the things he supposed to do on the trip back to Ithaca.
Greece was in a steady period of decline before Homer wrote his poems; the number of literate people was waning, and shortly after the creation of his Epics, Greece was flourishing yet again. This was because influenced education. This is partially because he helped create/spread certain ideas about Greece's past, and introduced the peer review system to boost Greece education at the time. Also, according to Plato himself, without Homer Greek education would be almost non-existent. Overall, Homer changed Greece's education, but he also changed how Greek citizens live their lives.
Homer is a unknown person, people don’t know much about him. Some believe it a group of people. Because storytelling is a tradition and then Homer collected these stories and remembered them. These things came to some to question whether he existed at all. He was born 750 bc to 1200 bc.
The Odyssey is a fantastic story full of interesting characters, conflicts, and theme. The Odyssey was written by Homer who was a blind poet. It was written in the 8th century B.C during a time of Greek god worship. With intricate characters, exciting conflicts, and an impressive theme the Odyssey is an amazing book for anyone. Odysseus showed the heroism of a mighty hero buy his heroism was not without foibles.
Which the Dark ages or Dorian age (C.1100-700BCE) then follows, this was the downfall of literacy in Greece, which during this period for some reason societies lost the ability to record information. Therefore there was/is limited information about this period. The Homeric period (C.750BCE) is when Homer was believed to be alive and oral epic poems were the main way that information was communicated.
