The sad tragedy of the capture of the Franks, the Van Pels and Fritz Pfeffer still remains today. The thief that stole money must have been caught and he told the German where some Jews were hiding. Within minutes the block was surrounded by Germans. The Franks, Van Pels and Fritz Pfeffer were arrested and taken to concentration camps. The Secret Annex was in the back of Mr. Franks company. The Annex was located on 263 Prinsengracht in Amsterdam. There were six rooms in the Annex. There was the bathroom and the attic where no one slept. The Kitchen where Mr. and Mrs. Van Pel slept. The sitting room where Mr. Frank, Mrs. Frank and Margot slept. There was one room where Anne and Fritz Pfeffer slept. Peter slept on the landing to the attic. Mr. Frank, Mrs. Frank and Margot’s room was 5.03m long by 3.13m wide by 2.83m high. Mr. Van Pel and Mrs. Van Pel’s room was 5.68m long by 5.14m wide by 2.63m high. Peter Van Pel’s room was 3.91m long by 2.11m wide by 2.63m high. The attic was 7.30m long by 5.68m wide. The floors were made of carpet so that they could walk around without being heard on hardwood floor and making creaking noises. Some people wonder if they ever slept during the day and were awake during the night when the workers were gone. They would have had a hard time sleeping during the day because they had always slept during the night. Everyone had stuff to do during the day though.
