Picture a young woman, bored with her existence, maintaining a weekly vigil at the theater. She doesn't care what's showing, as long as she's transported to another dimension, far away from her troubles, especially if romance is involved. When the realization finally came to me that people in this time period would accept any movie available, I started to understand why some movies of 'the 30's and 40's are extremely bad. They apparently took any script and forced stars (through their contracts) to make any movie that might produce a profit. The female star of the movie talks in a petulant baby talk way, which even for the few minutes that she spoke on the trailer, drove me bonikers.
