The Outsiders book is a……lot better than the Outsiders movie. The movie left out a……lot of key parts that were in the book which affected the movie's character development. The book makes the story feel cool and irreplaceable, but the movie makes it fake and irrelevant. The book is better than the movie because the movie cut out a……lot of character development that was given in the book. In the movie there was not a……lot about Darry and Sodapop for us to understand them. This proves that you would have to read the book first to know about all the characters' backgrounds which makes the movie worse since it is made for only people who have read the book. In the movie ponyboys concussion was completely skipped over. This part had given us a lot about how ponyboys felt about Johnny's death. In the book Darry said “Returned unopened” after Sodapop ran away. This was never shown in the movie, which was important to know that Sodapop wasn't perfect; he still had problems. The book gives us more background information of the characters. In the book we are told things like why Johnny is so scared of Socs. in the book we see Randy talk to ponyboy well he's in the hospital. This part is never shown in the movie and it also tells us more about Randy as a character. Ponyboy said only in the book “Maybe the two worlds aren't so different, we saw the same sunset”. Sunsets are such an important topic in the book and are hardly mentioned in the movie.
