Dictatorship is when a certain person or a small group control everybody in the country. (Encyclopedia Britannica) Dictatorship makes it so the leader controls what the people do. This also includes Communist Dictatorships like the Soviet Union. Our colony is strongly against dictatorship because there is always someone that has too much power when everybody else has no freedom to question it whatsoever. In Earth’s past whenever they had dictators they usually threatened the world.

The political elements during 1764-1783 had an active impact on the development of America’s own government after obtaining their independence from Great Britain. The Continental Congress directed the states to draft new constitutions, basically making the states the guinea pigs for constitutional experimentation. More than half of the thirteen states within one year of independence had drafted new constitutions. Virginia’s detailed Declaration of Independence became a model for the rest of the states. It asserted that life, liberty, and property were fundamental rights, and that “all men are by nature equally free and independent”.
Slaves were able to find ways to live and prosper under the ownership of their masters, but this included rebellion. Between 1770-1790 the slave population dropped due to runaways during the war. By rebelling, slaves were able to reclaim their freedom, which was defined as the absence of slavery. Caught between the expansion of slavery and the end of it, they knew that if they continued, it would result in the extermination of one or the other race.
Like modern day politics, 1790’s France had different groups with conflicting ideas on how their government should be run. In the French society, the rich wanted to stay rich and not have to deal with taxes and other responsibilities. The poor people in the society realized this was happening and declared they wanted change. The difference of opinions created a lot of conflicts because each group both had strong opinions on how the country should be run. During the immediate period prior to and during the French Revolution, the demands and interests of different groups caused social conflict.
The French Revolution was a period in history that included unfair society, an unreliable monarchy, and poor harvest. People became angry with the king and demanded change. Unfortunately, King Louis XVI did not pay attention to them and the people decided to take matters into their own hands. One major result of this is that the king was executed. Still wanting change, people began to form groups and became leaders of the Revolution.
Within the 25 years between 1775 and 1800 there were two revolutions that changed the world and the way the world looked at governmental structures. The American Revolution started in 1775 and lasted until 1783 and was a battle for the 13 colonies in the Americas to gain their independence from Britain (Sheidley). The second revolution was the French Revolution which took place between 1789 and 1799. The French Revolution was primarily between the third and the second estates of France but that is not to say that the first estate escaped unscathed (Blaufarb). This Revolution was an upheaval of the political and social structures in France.
The French Revolution is often described as the Revolution of France and developed over several decades in the mid to late 1700?s. The leadership of mid 18th century France has been described as a Monarchal King reigning by the grace God with absolute power over the people, economy, and politics of the Empire.[footnoteRef:1] The decades following the Seven Years War and King Louis? XVI quest to restore the glory of the French Empire through wars ultimately devastated the French economy. Many historians state the attempts of the King to further tax the people and subjugate the church were significant influences in the Revolution of the French. Thomas Carlyle believed that revolution and anarchy are the products of the Social Contract.[footnoteRef:2]
Throughout history there have been many wars and revolutions. During the 1600s’ there was the English Civil War. Shortly after that, in the 1700’s there was the French Revolution. The English Civil War was a war between the Parliamentarians and Royalists in England. The French Revolution was a revolution fought between the peasants and nobility of France.
In the 1700’s the world was undergoing A lot of different political revolutions, some included: The American Revolution, The French Revolution and The Latin American Revolution. During the 17’th century, this time period was also know the the American Revolutionary War, a conflict between Great Britain and America started growing. There was arguments and tension between Britain’s North American colonies, and the colonial government. These tensions and conflicts kept getting worse and resulted in a war between the America and Great Britain. The war didn't end until 1783, with America Winning.
The French Revolution was a time of a corrupted government and people who wanted an immediate change about many issues. These people who wanted a sudden change were called radicals, and they made a great impact on not only the government, but the French Revolution as a whole. They led to changing the government into a republic and later resulted in the killing of thousands of people. These issues during the French Revolution were because of the leader(s) who saw the issue, but did not make an instant change, and if they did make a change, it did not help society. Radicals were shown in many different groups during the Revolution, one type was called the Mountain.
Many reasons triggered the people’s general discontent, over taxing, inequality, years of feudal oppression, and corruption which led to eagerness of rebellion. Politically speaking, the autocratic monarchy, excessive spending and poor administration. On the social aspect, common people became rebellious after learning their rights and feeling treated unequal. Economically, the country was left in bankruptcy after poor administration and useless wars. All this contributed to a French society that was eagering for revolt, catapulting the french to a downward economic spiral in the late 1700’s.
In a monarchy, one person is placed unequally above others and is not held accountable for his actions. In a democracy, there is a bunch of little states compared to a monarchy, where there is one large state. In a monarchy, the monarch can do anything he wants. Xerxes is the monarch in Persia. Xerxes states, "You bitter water, your lord lays on you this punishment because you have wronged him without a cause, having suffered no evil at his hands.”
Napoleonic Rule The late 1700’s was a time of great discontent in France. The people of France revolted against their government in an attempt to gain power in political decision making. In this time, France experienced many forms of governments as the people fought for change. It was during the 1790’s that Napoleon Bonaparte became known to the people as a strong military leader.
