Challenges Leading Groups in Criminal Justice Organizations The criminal justice system is comprised of many organizations and agencies. It is viewed as a system because one element cannot function without the other. Though each element works independently, they must rely on each other to produce effective results and dispositions. The police are considered the “gatekeepers” of the criminal justice system. Based on their discretionary roles, when an arrest is made the process begins to unveil. The process continues on to the court system for prosecution and ends in either the correctional department or the probation department. In order to gain a complete understanding of the criminal justice system and its management, it must be clearly defined. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, criminal justice is defined as, “interdisciplinary academic study of the police, criminal courts, correctional institutions and juvenile justice agencies, as well as of the agents who operate within these institutions.” This paper will discuss, in detail, how since it is considered an academic study, and it has been around for a long time, then it should be understood how the implementation of a new method of policing can possibly make a difference in the application of …show more content…
