The book that I have chosen is a children’s book called “ HOP ON POP” by Dr. Seuss.
I chose this particular book because it is an interesting book that I believe will catch the attention of young children. The illustrations a hilarious and I believe the children in my classroom will be laughing. The words are repeated and I believe that if I read this book to my children they will memorized many words/pages. This book teaches the children about colors, rhyming words, opposites, new vocabulary words, basic phonics, language acquisition, sight words, and it shows how to put a sentence together. I believe this book will be a favorite and it will keep the children engaged.
The steps you will take to prepare your story for telling
To prepare myself to tell this story to the children I will have to read it first and practice at home, with making sounds and gestures in order to keep them engaged. I would have to practice the volume, pitch and tempo of my voice, and the use of silence and pauses in order to add a dramatic effect. As the text states “Storytellers direct joint attention and use their voices and gestures in functional ways to display emotions and actions and in direct ways to express what characters are feeling and what those feelings cause them to do”Coats, K. (2013. 7.2).
