The day had finally come, I had been waiting for it for almost the whole year. March, thirteenth, the day I was to go to Disney World for the first time ever! I’ve heard it’s a magical place and it’s where all the dreams come true. I hope I have a wonderful time on all the rides while spending quality time with my family. Today we go to Magic Kingdom. We stand at the gates waiting for the park to finally open. As the doors glide open revealing the park with open eyes I take it all in and burst through the crowds of people. My first ride ever is going to be Space Mountain. I run my heart out to reach the ride to be the first one on for the day. My heart is racing and I have no time to think while the ride bursts off. So I hop in at the end of the line and begin the long wait in the air conditioned palace that the ride is in. The boats pass by us and as we get closer to the water I can hear the faint hum of the infamous song everyone knows and dreads. We carefully step onto the rickety boat and there we go. We’re drifting slowly into the marvelous world of animated countries and falling asleep to the same repetitive song, until all of a sudden the ride stops. The first day ever that Disney World had been under terrorist attack. We kept flipping channels until we came across one that wasn’t about Florida. According the TV Disney World Hong Kong had just been bombed and everyone in it had died. It seems as if every Disney property was under attack today. We kept changing channels “Breaking News Disney World Paris set to Flames” The broadcasters announced. “China’s Disney world Submerged in twelve feet of water” Hoping to find more news on Disney World Orlando, we watch shaky phone camera recordings of the event that changed my life forever, the videos only causing the trauma to resonate in my mind.
