Dizzy Gillespie and Sonny Stitt, Live in Belgium 1958
This concert took place on the European tour of Dizzy Gillespie Quintet. In the concert Dizzy Gillespie doing the vocals and trumpet while Sonny Stitt plays the alto saxophone, tenor saxophone and vocals. The rest of the Quintet that lead by Gillespie, are played by Lou Levy playing the piano, Ray Brown the formidable bass, and Gus John on the Drums. The concert collection is interesting each musician add it’s on style for instance a swinging style is brought in the first track Blues after Dark, a more upbeat on the sunny side of the street, a romantic and smooth style in lover man, and classical blues style for cocktails for two and blues walk. Gillespie who is known for adding a nonsense vocal and slit whirls out quick, fluid line that audience members enjoys shares vocals with Stilt. You can slowly hear the beautiful guitar being played by Montgomery, then it dims down being ended by the drums. It fast tempo and bossa nova sytle to it. In here tat Rainy Day is starts off with the piano trading then trading with the guitar, then getting enhanced with the drums. It has a repetitive development thought the song and a comfortable bossa nova style to it. The song starts off with them trading licks. Then it the guitar plays louder then it continues to have the same repetitive development slowly pick up its tempo. Only being interrupted in the middle by a dums solo done by Jummy Lovelance and ending the song as well. Jingle seems to be the main melody in the concert.
