Article Critique on “Do Codes Make a Difference?” One of the most admired firms in the world is Johnson & Johnson. This company has an amazing increase of earnings for 28 consecutive years already and it is a dividend increases for 50 consecutive years (The Corporate Culture, n.d.). Its market value had a massive increase from $38 billion in 1991 to $185 billion in 2012 (The Corporate Culture, n.d.). It goes to show that the firm abides to the strong values enshrined in its credo and it has a culture which supports such values with relatively result to achieving a sustainable profit for a long period of time (The Corporate Culture, n.d.). As defined by Travis and Media (n.d.), a credo is a set of values and beliefs which serve as a blueprint of all actions a company must undertake. From the definition itself, it can be understood that a credo is more like of a company's trademark. This trademark tells the society what the company is all about and what it can offer people. Not only that, a credo is the very factor which holds the company in times of crisis. To note, Johnson and Johnson was able to respond to a poisoning crisis in its Tylenol products in 1982 by its own credo (Travis and Media, n.d.). This time of crisis did not shatter the company. A credo can either make a company or destroy it.
