It is expected that the candidates for the 2016 presidential election of the United States will spend $4.4 billion on TV advertisements (Miller). These candidates wouldn’t be willing to spend so much money if TV advertisements didn’t work. There isn’t a problem with adverting yourself to get votes for presidents, but there’s a problem when the candidates sway people to vote for them by tricking citizens with the use of psychology in their campaigns. One candidate who is running for president is Donald Trump, and people need to know what he actually wants so they don’t mindlessly vote for him because of his effective campaigning. One plan of Donald Trump is to eliminate corporate taxes (Trump). The ultimate goal of cutting corporate tax is to use that money to create more jobs, but that is unlikely to work. Majority of the fortune 500 CEO’s already give themselves a large salary compared to all the other workers they have. If corporate tax was cut, it is unlikely that the money would create an array of jobs, but would end up going into the pockets of other people. The taxed corporate money is guaranteed to go to the Government and will be split up between all the other budgets. The only way you can trust that the money will be used for the majority than the minority is if it is taxed by the government. Another plan of Donald Trump is to “implement the 1-5-10-15 income tax plan” (Trump). Most people can agree that the tax system right now is confusing, and any plan to make it more simple and linear would be a benefit to any tax paying citizen. Most people agree that they don’t like paying taxes, but they work with our system now, and it is important they don’t get manipulated in the wrong way. Presidents must have a good plan on how to deal with foreign policy enough so that it doesn’t ruin our economy, and doesn’t start unwarranted conflicts. Trump’s biggest concern on foreign policy is that other countries are taking jobs away from our homeland (Long). Trump has a plan to put tariffs on American goods that are made in China or Mexico to promote the items being made in America. The reason why we have so many of our products made in foreign countries is because it is significantly cheaper to produce there than it is here. It may create jobs, but it will inflate the prices the common goods we buy. Most people already struggle with buying necessities, and having higher prices is likely to steer customers away to those products. Jobs are important to create, but tariffs on countries who the United States does high amounts of trading with will not want them to do business with us. That will create too many jobs, and these jobs aren’t the type of jobs American’s want. They will likely pay close to minimum wage and have unpleasant work environments. The jobs might be available, but it doesn’t make any promises to have people work for them. The jobs we need to create need to pay enough to retain the workers. Creating jobs is important, but fighting with our major trade partners is not the way to do
