In remarks made at Dot Foods’ annual business conference in January 2016, Dot Foods Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John Tracy listed Honor Foods, Foodservice Center, Don Greene Poultry, and Twelve Baskets as the primary service-for-service competitors for Dot Foods (Tracy, 2016). During the presentation, Mr. Tracy explained that a service-for-service competitor was different from a competitor that might only offer part of the services Dot Foods offers (Tracy, 2016). Mr. Tracy explained that while none of the companies listed as competitors were true service-for-service competitors, Honor Foods, Foodservice Center, and R.W. Honor Foods has an additional location in Springfield, Massachusetts (Honor Foods, Inc., ND). Through the Philadelphia and Springfield locations, Honor Foods covers the region from Ohio to Maine (Honor Foods, Inc., ND). The primary advantage Honor Foods has over Dot Foods is a shorter time period from order placement to delivery (Tracy, 2016). Dot Foods time period from order placement to delivery is three business days while Honor Foods offers customers two business days delivery from the time of order placement (Tracy, 2016).
