Do you remember in kindergarten when the teacher would ask the class what they wanted to be when they grew up? The answers usually consisted of firemen, doctors, princesses, cowboys, or an astronaut. Then there was always the teacher’s pet who of course said they wanted to be a teacher (typical). Well college is a lot like kindergarten. Your advisor asks you,” what do you want to do with your life after college”, but this time the answers don’t come as easily.
This comes back to me where I would get good grades and I would be able to pass the class but that was it. I did not fully understand the material I just knew what I needed to pass it and be able to be the “good student” that colleges and businesses look for. After looking back on this, I like Rodriguez realized that there might be more to life than just getting grades and making the schools and businesses
I thought a lot about what I wanted to do and that experience with the Challenger Baseball Program and Daniel stuck out. I finally knew what I was passionate about and what I was meant to do. Knowing that I am finally striving towards something that I am passionate about is what makes me extremely motivated to reach my goals to become an educator. The only thing that can stop me from achieving my goal is myself. That will never
College may be the best and most important time of my life. I get the opportunity to make new friends, try new things, and to begin learning about things that I’m truly interested in. I’m slightly unsure of the exact direction I want to take with my life, but as proved in Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, as long as I choose to follow my passion I will end up doing the right thing in life. Whilst Bryan Stevenson has the profound passion of justice and mercy, my passion is very different. My passion in life is to provide dogs with better eye care.
To make a significant change in the world, countless hours of preparation, of work, and proactive cooperation with others are crucial for success. I partake in few extra-curricular activities, but I have dedicated years of my life to them all. On a regular week, I have to balance French club and National French Honor Society secretary duties, community service for National Honor Society, and additional choir practice for at least two hours after school each week (while sometimes performing community service with the choir as well). I want to become an engineer; so I take AP classes that are useful and interest me because I will need to know advanced math and science concepts in college. All of these extra-curricular activities and academics will become even more relevant when it is time for me to advance my future goals of pursuing a higher education and making significant efforts to aid the world by designing helpful technology with medical applications.
Upon beginning my first class at Walden University, it has been difficult to see myself getting through this 8-week course. Furthering my education has been something I have struggled to accomplish for the last 4 years. I almost decided to give up and continue being just a high school teacher. However, being a senior teacher that motivates my students to go above an beyond to reach their goal has pushed me to work hard and start a new journey. Though it is only the beginning of my journey, I can see graduation.
My academic achievements throughout my high school career show that hard work and dedication truly do pay off in the long run. All throughout my sophomore
I learned how to adapt to the individual needs of students to provide them the best education. Like students with a communication disorder, many of my students would shy away from activities or tasks because of obstacles. Through these experiences, I watched my students gain the confidence to participate in activities and excel in academics to become successful individuals. As a future Speech Language Pathologist, many qualities that I possess can be improved by furthering my education.
After what we learned in class, I believe I have a Growth Mindset. Using this knowledge, I will continue to persist whenever I encounter a challenging problem, no matter how difficult the situation is. In my personal life, I will also continue to solve barriers that stand in my way, such as monetary, familial, and psychological roadblocks that would prevent me from achieving happiness and the success I desire. This determination and persistence has given me the willpower to pursue a college education, which is why I am at UNLV. Along with this, I aim to become a surgeon and join Doctors Without Borders of which has heavily influenced my decision to major in Biology.
I challenge myself by taking multiple honors courses to develop a deeper understanding of math, science, and foreign language. I feel that education is essential for personal growth and future success, and I am committed to maintaining academic excellence. In addition to academics, I am a member of the Chatifield Chamber Orchestra. This is an audition based program for
While others indulged in extracurricular pursuits, I dedicated myself to self-study, driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge. The limitations imposed on me by society fueled a fire within me—a determination to overcome adversity. Every setback became fuel for my motivation, propelling me forward with unwavering resilience. I sought mentorship and guidance from individuals who believed in my potential, forging my own path towards
I have overcome difficult challenges in my pursuit of education. I fell behind on my credits, which was the hardest situation to pull myself up from. I caught up and past my colleagues. I am more than ready to further expand my education beyond graduating high school. I am striving to make myself rise above the rest.
Something that I consider to be both a strength and a weakness in my social work career is my gentle and reassuring manner. On the surface, this may seem like an excellent trait to have. I am very much a “people person” and others are naturally drawn to me. I tend to look at situations in a positive light as much as possible and have become an expert in removing tension between family members or dealing with end-of-life concerns. The majority of the residents value this quality in me and seek me out when a difficult decision needs to be made.
The integrity I possess and genuine character I have reveals my authentic positive outlook on life. I aspire to be the voice that encourages students to obtain a life changing education that will aid them in their journey. I desire to be a teacher that takes time out of my day to have meaningful minutes in a student’s life and to represent the picture of a positive role- model. I hope to leave a lasting impact by creating a caring atmosphere that allows students to express themselves, discover knowledge, and obtain their fullest potential confidently!
