It would be an honor to join the NHS. The National Honor Society is a notable organization that promotes high school students who reflect academic excellence, leadership, service, and character. Joining the NHS demonstrates to colleges, businesses, and the community that someone is serious about their education and making a difference in their community. I am a suitable candidate for the NHS because I demonstrate the qualities that the organization values and I am committed to use my abilities and skills for the success and growth of the community around us. I meet the academic requirements for the NHS membership as I currently have a 4.5 GPA for my first semester of high school. I challenge myself by taking multiple honors courses to develop a deeper understanding of math, science, and foreign language. I feel that education is essential for personal growth and future success, and I am committed to maintaining academic excellence. I volunteered through an organization called Feeding Many. As a volunteer, we planted community gardens where the food produced is donated for those struggling to afford their daily needs. In preparation for joining the NHS, I was an active member of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and accrued over 70 hours of volunteer time during my tenure. As a middle school student I volunteered as a leader for WEB (Where Everybody Belongs). WEB is a program that assigns a responsible leader/mentor for a group of incoming sixth graders to help them acclimate to their first year of middle school. My responsibilities included orchestrating activities to help the students build new friendships as well as to become a member of an inclusive school community. During my time in WEB I accrued an additional 28 hours of
