Dr. Seuss’s is a well- known and influential American writer whose books staple in homes and elementary schools today. Dr. Seuss's books had an influence on me because they always gave me a sense of imagination. Dr. Seuss's books were an easy read and constantly getting stuck in my head. As a young girl I used to quote Green Eggs and Ham all the time around my house. Even during the holiday season (Christmas time) Dr. Seuss’s book The Grinch who stole Christmas is constantly being read internationally in commemoration of Christmas spirit.
When I was in 3rd grade, my teacher used to read us stories about Dr. Seuss and his adventures. The first book I read was Yertle the Turtle and it was the best book I read in 3rd grade. After we finish Yertle the Turtle, My favorite quote from this book is "I know, up on top you are seeing great sights, but down here at the bottom we, too, should have rights." we made Dr. Seuss hats. Dr. Seuss is more than nonsense words and rhyming.
Older children read Dr. Seuss books because his books are not boring and childish; they are fun to read for any ages. Also, his rhymes are used in school to teach students life lessons that can benefit them in the future. Another reason why Dr. Seuss’ books are very unique is because he “sparked the imagination of children” (Knoji). In his books, he creates many imaginary characters and places. When his readers read his books, in their minds; they can imagine all the characters and settings.
Reading "Night" by Elie Wiesel drastically influenced my view on life. The horrendous depictions of life during the holocaust era described by Elie was traumatizing. Reading each line in the book gave me goosebumps. Imaging that a time era in which jews were oppressed to that of a gruesome extent is beyond conceivable. The book allowed me to reassess my life.
The “Ted” Seuss Geisel, known as Dr. Seuss, is a great children’s author (“About Dr. Seuss”). Surprisingly, the start of Dr. Seuss career is quite different from how he ended up. One article states “Ted Geisel started his artistic career as a cartoonist for the New York Weekly Judge and as an advertising artist…” (“About Dr. Seuss”). Another famous doctor in the world is Dr. Sigmund Freud.
Books opened my eyes to enthralling revelations at a young age. They gave me solace in my times of worry and melancholy. Especially where the lost protagonist overcame her obstacles and fought her fears. I could always relate to such struggles. I understood what it meant to feel diminutive and powerless.
Dr. Seuss “The Cat in the Hat” Dr.Seuss is one of the best children’s book writers. His creative books, colorful pages and often funny stories attracts many readers. This gifted authors’ birthday is celebrated worldwide on March 2. His book The Cat in the Hat, published in 1957, became one of the most popular children’s book and helped him inspire generations of children with the ideas in his following books. Dr. Sigmund Freud’s representation of the personalities with the characteristics of the Id, Ego, and Superego are all distributed within the characters in Dr.Seuss book.
Doctor Seuss once said: "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." To paraphrase the quote, it is saying that books are the perfect source of knowledge and they open up many doors in the future. People who read books are constantly enhancing their vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking skills. When reading, individuals are exposed to new ideas, concepts, and perspectives that can broaden their understanding of the world and improve their ability to analyze complex issues.

Home is Where the Learning Starts Children start to love reading at a young age, but when reading textbooks the love for reading slowly starts to deteriorate. Most kids hate to read in school because it’s nothing they are truly interested in when in all reality children need to understand how important reading is. In the essay “My Literacy History” by Dedrick Skinner and “The Lonely Good Company of Books” by Richard Rodriguez he explains how he did not know why reading was so important, but as he grew older he understood its values. I also developed a love for books at young age when my mom began to read to me, but as I grew up I felt reading was a struggle because I didn’t understand its values like Rodriguez.
The circumstances in which a child is raised can affect their feelings towards literature. If parents are supportive of a child’s education, they will grow up with more happiness towards learning and reading. For example, Jeannette Walls, in her memoir, The Glass Castle, tells how though she was raised in poverty, her parents supported reading. In the same way, Eudora Welty, in her memoir, One Writer’s Beginnings, explains how she was raised in a loving home by parents who completely supported reading. Whereas Walls was raised in poverty, Welty was raised with money.
Dr. Seuss left a huge impact on children's literature and has immensely enhanced what children encounter when they read a children's book. Dr. Seuss explored new ways to change the way children's literature is written by adding techniques like rhyme and humor to add to his writing and to make it more fun and interesting. In most children's books now, one may find humor, a sense of fun, and many other literary techniques that boost writing. If not for Dr. Seuss, children's book may still be dull and not very interesting, leading to a less knowledgeable generation of kids who do not read and learn. Now any time a children's book is enjoyable and fun, one can thank Dr.
Society shaped and influences Harper Lee to kill a mockingbird by having most stuff in the book come from her childhood. For instance, in the text it states “ Lee 's Father was a southern lawyer. ”(Gradesaver). In other words lee 's Father was a southern lawyer just like Atticus. This illustrates that she took stuff from her childhood and morphed it into To Kill a Mockingbird.
For instance, when it says ,” That’s why, as a youth, I made watching my goal, watching Zooks for the Zook-Watching Border patrol!.”(Seuss pg 8)”. To conclude this was a very good children 's book and many people still know it today. (The Butter Battle Book, 1984) To conclude, Dr. Seuss’s life and books have been memorable to so many people and children which has inspired other writers in their work. But Seuss was also inspired by his very own parents, which is what made him want to begin writing.
When I first met someone who didn’t like the book I was beyond shocked. Right at that moment, I realized that reading has its own effects on me. Reading has changed my writing skills, it has improved my knowledge and lastly, it has helped me manage my stress while going through hard times. Without reading I wouldn’t be the person that I am today.
