During the time of the Reformations, there were multiple religious changes. To start off, the doctrines between the Catholics and Protestants were very different. An example of this includes their belief in the forgiveness of sins. The Catholics believed that Priests had enough power to forgive the Catholics' sins no matter what it is whereas the Protestants believed that only God could forgive them. Even though the protestants didn’t get physical replies about the forgiveness of their sins, they believed a lot in their faith that they were forgiven (godonthe.net). This was a change because before all this the Catholics believed their own doctrines but after the Protestants brought in theirs it ended up causing conflict. Someone who caused conflict was Martin Luther who had a belief in the Protestant faith. Luther had started the 95 theses which explained the corruption of the Church after the Indulgences began. Luther caused all this because the Church started selling indulgences and charging for common events such as baptisms and marriages (Ellis 346). Luther disagreed with the ways the Church did things so he made arguments against them. …show more content…

King Henry VIII separated England from the Catholic church and created his own church since he thought he barely had power compared to someone like the Pope and craved more power (Ellis 351-352). This all started when the Pope did not approve of King Henry’s will of divorce and from there everything else went onward (Ellis 352). After the reformation took place, Queen Elizabeth took over the reforms of the Catholic Church. What she did was have both the Protestant and Catholics agree. Elizabeth was able to restore the unity of England while she had the power to (Ellis 352). This was a political change by showing how with Queen Elizabeth’s power, she put it to use and was able to do important things that changed
