“Witches Brew” by David Casper In Act IV, the three witches played a major role in providing important prophecies concerning Macbeth. The song “Witches Brew” illustrates the wickedness of the Weird Sisters. When creating their potion, the witches add ingredients, such as an “eye of newt” and a “toe of frog” (Shakespeare 4.1.14), that are often associated with evil and nasty creatures. The Weird Sisters use this concoction to reveal Macbeth’s apparitions, a dark premonition depicting his downfall.
In the story the internal conflict experienced by Charles Halloway was the urge to become young again. On page 131, Charles Halloway says “You know what I hate most of all Will? Not being able to run like you anymore.” (Bradbury 131) This reply from Charles has a bitter tone and is said in an envious manner that resonates with self-pity.
While this is a critical part in pushing Westley back to the path of his quest, it’s utilization of humour results in the undermining of the plot. Although the witches play a crucial role in Westley’s transformation and the continuation of his quest, their excited and corky personas divert us from the seriousness of Westley’s

More specifically for Poe, the makeup of the home in the “Tell Tale Heart” creates a dark mood for the text. “His room was as black as pitch with the thick darkness, (for the shutters were close fastened, through fear of robbers,) and so I knew that he could not see the opening of the door, and I kept pushing it on steadily, steadily.” (Poe). The setting displays a type of darkness and horrific sight. Through the vocabulary such as black and thick darkness this is clearly displayed.

Bradbury does this to show that even though the Witch is a being of great power, she, like all of the freaks at the carnival, must succumb to the orders of it’s ringmaster, and perform in carnavalistic, yet evil
It reveals how people commit cruel acts out of selfish intentions. In this situation, the girls claim to “come to Heaven’s side” by pointing fingers at others for witchcraft, although they were only doing so to get themselves out of their own trouble. These acts of cruelty reflect upon the evil motives of the perpetrators that become more common after it is done once, as seen through the continuous trials and suspicions, which acts as one of the most major conflicts in the play. Without these cruel accusations, there would be neither plot nor ending. With this same situation, it can be concluded that accusations become more frequent during an interval of time when there are more people accusing.
This gives the witches an unsettling vibe to them. I believe that this was the main concept that the director wanted to portray onto the

Before meeting the witches, Macbeth is an honorable man who won favor from King Duncan for his courage in fighting in battle. The witch’s Influenced him to do all the evil things the most of the play and it goes like this. The witches introduce the prophecies which two of them were full field. The first witch states that he will become “The thane of Glamis” in act 1, scene 3, page3 and the second witch says that he will become the “thane of Cawdor” but the third one is what changed the situation and it goes like the third witch says”All hail, Macbeth, the future king”.
The way Poe sets up his story with the tension could create a fearful atmosphere. He did not just focus on portraying a narrator with a certain fear, he would use language that would make the reader feel fear. He packed in images of darkness and horror in order to create these atmospheres that presented fear in many different ways. Poe being known as a master of the horror
For human kind in the light the soul is good and clean, in the dark, evil conspires against good and shows the soul dark and unclean. Macbeth proclaims at 1.4.48-51, “Let not light see my black and deep desires,” meaning he wants to contain his good soul but fears his goals demand for evil means to achieve them. He further proves this point by
The entire short story can be envisioned as a scary dream. Poe sets the tone of the story in the very beginning, stating, “The ‘Red Death’ had long devastated the country. No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or so hideous. Blood was its Avatar and its seal- the redness and the horror of blood,” (Poe 3). This sets an emphatically dark and horrific tone for the reader, which carries into the plot of the story.
