No matter what side you're on you can agree that Global Nuclear Arms is a very very controversial topic. Dwight D. Eisenhower was the great american president who gave a speech called Atoms for peace. He gave this important speech to the UN General Assembly in New York City on December 8, 1953. The president was just beginning a series of conferences with the Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of Great Britain and of France. When his Secretary General gave him the invitation to address the General Assembly reached him in Bermuda. He wanted to solve a terrible problem by suggesting a way to transform the atom from a tool of destruction into a benefit for mankind. A energy source.

It brought the atomic issue which had been kept quiet for "national security" into the public eye, and he was asking the world to support his solution. At that time a lot of people were looking for a solution. In Dwight’s exelint speech he said “The United States knows that peaceful power from atomic energy is no dream of the future.” I chose this because it was one of the huge persuasive points in his argument. And even tho it was true that they had the technology, atomic energy isn't renewable, clean, or safe. I also chose this quote “So my country’s purpose is to help us move out of the dark chamber of horrors into the light, to find a way by which the minds of men, the hopes of men, the souls of men everywhere, can move forward toward peace and happiness and well-being.” I chose this because it is such a bold statement for the future of the country and it really shows that what he is saying, he truly believes in.
