Earth’s Rotation-A Journal Entry
If the earth’s rotation was twice as long as it was now, Earth would be very different. Many things would change that would affect our everyday lives. In this paper I will tell you how I think life would change.
Right now the earth’s rotation is 24 hours long and that makes one day 24 hours long. If the earth’s was twice as long our days would be 48 hours long. One thing I think would change is how we tell time. If there were 48 hours in a day instead of 24, Our current time system would not work. I think that we would have to change our system to fit our 48 hour rotation. We would probably have to create a clock that went up to 24 hours or convert to military time. I think that it would be more useful if we had a 24 hour clock, because that is the system Americans are used to and it would be easy that way.

I think that temperature and plant growth would change a lot. If the earth’s rotation was twice as long the earth would have sunlight twice as long and moonlight twice as long. This means that the earth would get a lot colder and a lot warmer. I think this would affect plant growth. It would be a lot harder to grow plants in more extreme temperatures. It would also be harder because if plants are in the dark for a long time they might die from lack of sunlight. If it became harder to grow plants this could affect our lives in lots of different ways. We could have a smaller food supply and possibly have to think of alternative food sources. This could also affect the growth of trees and possibly impact our oxygen supply. Our lives would change a lot if we had a 24
