Edgar Allan Poe is an author who lived from 1809 to 1849 and is one of the most influential authors of all time because his innovation of the horror genre has influenced many prestigious horror writers, such as Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft and his creation of the detective fiction genre, which includes the popular series, Sherlock Holmes. Poe is considered the grandfather of horror stories by many. His unique style revolutionized the way people felt about horror fiction.
