Becoming a teacher comes with great responsibility considering all the lives that a teacher could impact. As a future educator, it is my duty to learn how to be able to communicate with all my students. Being fluent in English and Arabic motivated me to become a Spanish minor so I would be able to help even a larger amount of people, but I still felt that I could learn more, which is why I hope to obtain the dual degree and dual certification. Being able to teach students with disabilities will allow me to help and educate more people and have a positive impact on their lives. During my experience I worked with children ages three and four. I was not used to working with young kids, but with the help of the teacher and her aid, I was taught how to help the students. During this program, I learned how each student has their own routine as well as their own process of learning. At first, it was difficult for me because it was one of my first experiences volunteering in a school, but with persistence, I adjusted to the classroom environment. As time went the student came to me for help as much as they went to the classroom teacher and I knew that I had been successful. This experience stuck with me, which sincerely encouraged me to want to become a teacher. I want to be able to educate the same types of classrooms that I was in. Being exposed to a wide range of students made me appreciate each person for their individuality rather than focus on factors such as their disabilities, race, or social economic status. Having such an inclusive classroom created a better understanding of one another, causing more acceptances for each other in society. Having these experiences when I was in high school made me realize I want to be able to teach all students and not be limited.
