Art education is an essential for every child’s wholesome development because it encompasses tangibility, expression, interpretation, inquiry, diversity, and connections. In my classroom every student will be engaged, motivated, and challenged while feeling free to ask questions and make mistakes. Influenced by personal experiences the arts teach students how to make decisions and innovatively solve problems which are key skills in today’s society. My role as an art educator is to cultivate students that can dissect content through inquiry, critical thinking and effective communication, while asking the right questions and making a visual connection. Through my positive example, my students will understand and actively practice the characteristics of fairness; openness, trust and empathy for others.
In my classroom, we examine present-day issues and ideas that are important to students’ daily lives. On one hand, my students can visually express personal and community strengths, while also realizing how to discuss the social issues needing development and change. I captivate their curiosity, making lessons culturally exploratory, and relevant to the students.

In my class, we challenge ourselves to look at various perspectives while understanding our own personal and social truths. Art is one of the most important visual narratives in which people tell us how they view the world. As an art educator I empower my students to have an artistic voice as well as a curious ear for understanding. I truly believe my students value these conversations as part of the artistic process. Overall my enriched interdisciplinary curriculum integrates many other subject’s including environmental science, language arts, history, social justice, and technology to give my students a holistic learning
