Being eager to lend a hand to coworkers can be dangerous to your health, this is experience talking. Just reporting in for duty and being the newest employee, the determination to set a desirable and a respectable impression existed. Being most eager that in fact, the chance to volunteer in the task of moving a large piece of furniture down a flight of stairs had been quickly accepted. During the task the desk, slipped and fell, and with it myself. The desk tumbled down the stairs injuring multiple discs in the lower spine, as a result causing severe nerve damage to both lower extremities. Consequently, this event has altered life dramatically with the need of multiple operations, daily medications, and an unexpected adjustment in career path. The two major discs damaged in the incident were the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebra. Being severely herniated, the vertebra could no longer properly support the weight of the upper body and coupled with nerve damage, caused a slight drag of the left leg. Corrective procedures and operations became necessary to return mobility. The numerous surgeries and spinal epidurals were arduous, physically and mentally.
