Globalization has some negative consequences for developing countries. However I believe globalization to be primarily beneficial to developing countries. The main fields of globalization are the economic trade process, education and health systems and cultural effects. In this essay I will focus my research on economic globalization.

Countries like China and Korea are experiencing rapid economic growth due to this. But then why is there such a magnitude of poverty and deprivation in much of Africa, parts of South Asia and Latin America? Dicken (2007) highlights that the benefits of Globalization are not universal. It benefits of some countries far more than others. Dicken (2007) studies the positive and negative effects of globalization on developing countries. “At the global scale the developed countries are clearly ‘winners’. They continue to contain a disproportionate share of the world’s wealth, trade, investment and access to modern technologies.” He suggests that if the economies of developed countries continue to grow and expand, this will undoubtedly help developing countries’ economies. Some companies set up sweatshops in developing countries such as China, India and Bangladesh. They capitalise off the desperate natives by paying them low wages for long hours in poor conditions. Most people have no other choice but to work in these workshops as there is no other employment available. Although multinational corporations are providing jobs in these countries, it is for their own gain. But does it have more consequences or benefits for developing countries?
