Throughout our lives, things around us have been changing, simple things, such as iPhones and other technology because of globalization. Globalization since the second world war has been mostly better for us than worse because there are decreased poverty rates and life expectancy has increased, but we are polluting our world with environmental destruction and Co2 emissions.
Since the Second World War, extreme rates of poverty have decreased. According to Document 1, starting around 1950, there was a steep decrease in extreme poverty. It went from around 60% in 1950 to lower than 20% in 2015. This decrease in poverty rates has been a positive impact on globalization since 1950 and continues to decrease today. Along with a decrease in poverty rates, there has been an increase in daily income per capita globally. Document 3 contains 3 graphs, each increasing in daily income per capita, especially the significant increase between 1945 and 2015 as it passes the international poverty line. This again is a positive impact on globalization as it means the global economy is getting better.

The graph in Document 6 shows that since 1950, the overall life expectancy has increased. For example, in 1950 the life expectancy in Africa was below 40, but in 2019 it is almost 60. As a result, this is a positive increase because of globalization. Additionally, Document 4 explains that the increase in world population created an increase in inequality. It says the wealth ratio between the poorest 20% and the richest 20% grew from 30:1 to 60:1 between 1960 and 1991. This trend of increasing inequality is still increasing because some people are still getting richer, which means absolute poverty goes down, but this is often at the expense of people who are “displaced or marginalized.” This is a negative impact because it is slowing down the decrease in poverty
