Hitler’s maneuvers to gain control of Germany.
It was November the 11th of 1918, World War 1 had just ended and people could breathe easier, a chapter was closed but a new one had just started. Hitler didn’t see the position in which Germany ended World War 1 as a loss but as an opportunity, an opportunity to gain power and respect, not only in Germany, but worldwide. Germany was suffering from a debt of billions of dollars, hyperinflation was at the rise, and the Treaty of Versailles had just placed Germany into a corner by casting all the blame of World War 1 upon them and placing the monetary infraction on them. Hitler refers to his time in Austria in his book “Mein Kampf” and he accused the Jews of being responsible for the bad luck he had during these 5 years. Hitler’s hatred towards the Jews started in Vienna where he was convinced that his mother died because of the bad decision of a Jewish doctor, and that he was rejected of the art school he applied for in Vienna, even though, the Vienna Academy of Art stated that he was not accepted because the academy was looking for sketches. Hitler’s drawings had to few or no people in them and the examining board did not want a landscape artist, and because he did not have a School leaving certificate which is a document that indicates the person has fulfilled the requirements of the school he was attending, it mainly included the grades of the student. When the war was being declared Hitler moved back to Germany in order to join the German military. Hitler was a brave soldier during his years in the military, his job was to carry messages in order to communicate with officers who were behind enemy lines, his military career lasted four years, and reach the rank of corporal, it was said that he did not reach a higher rank because of his lack of social skills. German soldiers who met Hitler and shared time with him in the trenches did not like him, they said that it seemed like if Hitler was enjoying the war and in contrary to his fellow soldiers he was not condemning it. During his time in the war Hitler was recognized as a brave soldier, and this was recognized and celebrated when he won the highest ward of bravery there was for a German soldier to win, the Iron cross, he went on to achieve six more medals for his bravery. World War I did not end well for Hitler, during the last month of the war he was affected by a gas attack that blinded him, it was needed for him to stay
