The Industrial Revolution first began in Britain in the late 1700s and from there continued to spread to other parts of the world. The second agricultural revolution sparked improved farming methods, this output increased dramatically allowing for close to half the population to move towards cities. The displaced farmers who had moved to the cities for jobs in the new industrial economy lead to urbanization. Britain used the domestic system even as they started to import huge amounts of cotton from the American colonies, and once new technology were made factories were born.
