For the old Egyptians, life continued even after death. Their religion consisted of believing in more than one god. Death and afterlife was an important thing in Egyptians civilization. They did a big effort to make sure they receive a good ending when they die. To them, life was only and temporary interference or a pause for their lives. So, it is not the end. To be surely that dead had a comfortable afterlife, they practiced different funerary, methods and customs were done, such as mummification and respect the God. Only reach people had elaborate funerals and expensive lavish. Egyptians kept the body of the dead person so that this body could be used in the afterlife. These were planned for the dead to use in hereafter. To provide spirit protection, they use Incantation and magic spells and fernery texts on the grave of the dead. Also the mask was an important thing, they believed that it could protect the spirit during its journey to the afterlife and it helps the spirit to recognize its body there so it comes back to it. In life after the death of the deceased, the spirit’s heart was thought to be weighed in The Hall of the Two Truths. A feather from the goddess’ cover Ma’at (known as Shu, the Feather of Truth and Justice) was weighed against the heart of the heart of the soul. The soul passed safety if the heart was lighter than feather. Nevertheless, if the heart was heavier than the feather, it meant that the spirit’s heart was heavy with evil, and then the evil Ammu would eat the soul. Egyptians believed that only Pharaohs had a ba’ spirit, it preserve the body every night by returning to it to receive a new life and they ascended to the sky and lived among the stars, but commoners passed to the dark realm (the opposite of the life) when they died.
