It was in the late spring of 1999 in New York City. Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and Mohamed Morsi or both captured. Both of these men were captured in their homes. The United States Military had surrounded their homes and waited for them to surrender. Guzman and Morsi knew they had no way out. They were later shipped out to Carandiru Penitentiary. This prison is one of the most deadliest prisons known today. Joaquin and Mohamed had been put next to each other. Joaquin was a short ugly looking guy. He was husky, pale looking, and dangerous. Many people knew what this guy was capable of. Guzman could get men on you and they can gun you down within’ 2-4 hours. They knew that did not have a chance of escaping because there was always 2-3 guards watching them. These guards had AR15 and were covered in riot shield gear. Everyday during their lunch they would talk about escaping but neither of their plans worked. Morsi then got an idea. He said, “Joaquin, what if we break the cement below us and start to dig a hole leading us to the sewers?” Guzman had thought it was a great idea. They didn’t have much time to make their escape route because the guards were always there watching. They are using a spoon to break cement and to dig through soft mud, so they had to be careful. They finally finish their escape route but they don’t know when the right time is escape. They are now on their lunch and they are waiting for opportunity to escape as quick as possible. Suddenly, a fight had broke out and they knew this was their only opportunity to escape. As the guards are trying to break up the fight, Morsi and Guzman make their way to the hole.
