Opinions. Have you ever had an opinion about something that no one else agreed with? In the book The Crucible by Arthur Miller and the movie Good Night and Good Luck directed by George Clooney people have a way of seeing things and because of the environment they have grown up in it is easier for them to judge people with different opinions. Reverend Hale and Edward R. Murrow are very similar. Hale and Murrow are both reporters.
story, two boys who have the same name and a similar fate go through life’s struggles, just born blocks within each other. Life gave these two a handful of obstacles but only one was able to overcome them. One Wes faces life in prison, due to a convicted murder of a police officer. The other Wes attended military school, became a paratrooper and served as Captain in the U.S. Army. One lesson is to not let others control your life. Another lesson is letting people help one’s self. The final lesson is to limit the amount of alcohol one consumes. Firstly, a lesson learned from reading the novel, is that one should not let other people control one’s life.
At the beginning of the book, Reverend Hale was called upon to go to Salem, Massachusetts where he was assigned to help find witches because, he is an ordained minister who “feels himself allied with the best minds of Europe- kings, philosophers, scientists, and ecclesiast of all churches.” (Miller 34) This is a description of him that is used to show how he has a narcissistic personality and show that he is a man that believes that the word of God is the only way to truly prove one’s innocence. Towards the beginning of the book Reverend Hale comes into Salem with a stack of books he is struggling to carry. He says that the books are heavy because “They must be; they are weighted with authority”(34)
Lindbergh used his flying skills he previously learned in life in order to go on his adventure (“Charles Lindbergh Biography.”) As we can see, these adventurers seemed to have learned just the right skills in their lifetimes in order to go on their escapades. Another skill these men seemed to have is courage and bravery.
One key person in The Crucible with ideals that completely changed from the beginning is Reverend Hale. In the beginning Reverend Hale came in believing that he was the ultimate authority on witches. Later on in the story, Hale was shaken by the arrest of Rebecca and the eventual arrest of John where he quits the court. Hale at the end does not believe in religion, but tells others to have faith. Reverend Hale from the beginning to the end is almost a completely different person; this is shown by him coming into the story being the authority on how to find witches, then he is shaken greatly by Rebecca and John’s arrest, and finally by him not having religion but keeping faith.

Sway’s “Chapter one” connects to a quotation from the article “Lance Armstrong: He was a 'tragic hero'.” In chapter one the Brafman brothers explain loss aversion, our tendency to go to great lengths to avoid possible losses, and the fact that humans are twice as sensitive to losses as they are to gains. They described how Captain Van Zanten, an experienced and well known pilot, went to great lengths, and made a fatal decision to try to save time in order to save his reputation. It shows how determined he was to avoid a great loss (14).

Gladwell gathered several sources of evidence to explain this phenomenon. The first part of the problem was communication. Transcripts were gathered from several planes in emergency situations and showed that the lack of proper communication between the captain and the first officer contributed to the accident.
