Have you ever wondered what it means to be good? Good is defined as something that is done, performed, or accomplished; an act. Elie Wiesel, a young Jewish boy from a small town in the Carpathian Mountains. He also is a Holocaust survivor. Elie wrote the speech, The Perils of Indifference, and also the book, Night. He describes what he thinks good means to him. Elie Wiesel describes good as helping others by encouraging them, having faith, and being sympathetic for others. First, Elie Wiesel thought that good meant helping others by encouraging them. “There words of encouragement even though they came from the mouths of our assassins, did us a great deal of good” (Wiesel 68). Having words of encouragement will help you in the long run when you’re dealing with an issue or during a hard time. “Keep going! We are getting there! Courage! Only a few more hours!” (Wiesel 68). Trying to stay positive that your loved one isn’t going to die is hard, but having faith in God he believed his dad wasn’t dead and that he will continue to live on. “Blessed art Thou, Eternal Master of the Universe, who chose us from among the races to be tortured by day and night, to see our fathers, our mothers, our brothers, end in the crematory?
