Let go on to talk about some of the social concept and institution that we see portrayed in the movie. One of the social concept that I seen explored throughout the movie is the idea of roles. Roles defined in the book is “ the behaviours, obligation, and privileges attached to a status” (Henslin, 103) .Everyone in this society has a certain role we can see that in the movie Elizabeth and Belle had to play the role of elite young lady. They had certain expectation that they had to follow because of their status . One of the people that we this in the most is the uncle he has to play two very distinct roles that sometime conflicted with each other. Another concept that came up a lot in the movie is social class. The whole movie is based on this family of rich elite family. Social class is when a “large number of people who have similar amounts of income and education and who work a job that are roughly comparable in prestige.”( Henslin, 100) .We can see in the movie that Belle and her family had an ascribes statues , meaning that they were born into their status, not really working for it. That the mentality they have about letting outsider in that if they were not born into this society that they can never be in it. In this society social class helps to say who has the power and privileges and they feel that when someone of a lower class comes in it mess it up. This boundries were made that you stay in your class and not mix in with other class group. This happen with Belle when she falls for a men of a lower class and her uncle becomes concerned with her losing her title because of that. We also see this with Elizabeth and her needing to found a husband with a title so that she can keep her position in the elite social
