My life has been a series of challenges, each one teaching me to be prepared for the next challenge. After all these steps, I realize the activity that comforted me the most and makes me have a purpose in the Bay Area, was helping people in need. I purposefully overwhelmed myself with community service activities so that I may be reminded that there are people in my community who need the guidance that I can provide. I have discovered that the advice and comfort that I supply to the people I support assists to improve the community one person at a time. I wish to be the global citizen, who cares for the community, strives for leadership, a person who not only conserves the environment but cultivates it. I wish to influence the lives around me. I am confident that time abroad will teach me how to properly reach out to the community, based on a cultural sensitivity developed by my overseas Elon Gap experience. Furthermore, I long to combine my experience as a counselor and an environmental ambassador. I want to learn how to improve the environment I have, that may only be achieved from the environmental ethics I would obtain. The values of resources overseas are different from those in the United States, water is a luxury and education a privilege, items we take for granted. I wish to be able to communicate that sense of values upon my return from abroad. Let me stress that I consider myself a team player, one that helps to mediate any dispute and help seek compromises for the betterment of the project.
