Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) has influenced me in many ways. First, it was the school's amazing nursing program. The school of nursing was established in 1953 and it awards undergraduates the bachelor of science degree. WSSU’s nursing program was ranked number 3 in the nation, and is continuing to grow and enhance the program. I have been given the chance to get into the nursing program, with the help from the Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP).
I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
Personal Statement Last summer I had the opportunity of participating in the U54 Sumer Research Program and it was an incredible experience, because it helped me in my professional development and discerns my future carrier goals. I want to return to MD Anderson Cancer Center, because it counts with a variety of physician scientists and physicians that integrate their clinical work with innovating research and this will improve my development as a future physician and researcher. Being able to do research in my area of interest and having the experience of a clinical rotation in pediatric oncology help me diced that I want to become an MD. My actual professional goal is to be a pediatric physician specialized in oncology, orthopedic surgery
Without a doubt, OU-HCOM provides an excellent medical education with numerous learning opportunities for research and clinical work at Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital. The unique location of OU-HCOM in Cleveland, an urban area with a diverse patient population will expose me to countless experiences that will help mold me into a more well-rounded, compassionate, and skilled physician. I want a school in an urban environment with a diverse patient population that will prepare me to practice medicine in a similar setting. Being a Volunteer at Beaumont Hospital, I was privileged to work with diverse groups of volunteers and people. I converse with them and develop new friendships that exposed me to many traditions and cultures I had been unaware of.
I want to be a part of Enactus SFU because I want to create a foundation for me to build on throughout my post-secondary career. I find Enactus as a great opportunity for me to grow my roots and learn. Also, the fact that I've only been in SFU for one month and have known plenty of great individuals in Enactus urged me to apply for the club. I aspire to be apart of Enactus. As a first year SFU student, I am willing to put in the hours to set a solid base for my skills to grow on, create connections, and branch out of my comfort zone.
There are several aspects of research skills that peak my interest. The path I have chosen to venture on, is the chance to research in biomedical sciences, which provides an excellent opportunity to get into the U54 University of Massachusetts Boston – Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center Comprehensive Partnership, where my skills would allow me to enjoy an experiential learning in administration and service and pursue an MD-PhD-level research in biomedical sciences. This program will provide me with an ideal opportunity to showcase my skills and allow me to enjoy an experimental learning while gaining the knowledge of research on cancer health disparities. The U54 Program is mainly a good fit for me because the knowledge I will attain will not
I began my education at Stephen F. Austin State University, which was founded as a teacher’s college in 1923. That is why I chose SFASU because I wanted to teach children, plus I wanted to concentrate on teaching them to read. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education and Generic Special Education in 1985. I concentrated on working with the at-risk population and began my journey as an educator in January 1986. I quickly realized that I had a thirst for knowledge and set a goal to continue my education until one day I would receive my doctorate in education.
Hello! Welcome to the Jr. Honors Academy! We are so excited for an amazing year! My name is Crista Ponder, and I will be serving as the Jr. Honors Academy sponsor. I am the 8th-grade Science and Social Studies Teacher at Riverdale.
My job as a patient care technician allowed me to care for numerous individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Through this experience, I came to the realization that I loved people. I loved hearing their stories and the secret hopes and fears they would share with me in the dead of the night. I realized that I wanted to have a career where I could not only help people, but learn from them as well. I believe a career in the healthcare field would allow me to do this.

While I was searching for colleges during my senior year, Arizona State University was the first college that caught my attention. My sister, Ranine is currently a junior at ASU and has loved it ever since she stepped foot on campus. Her love for ASU greatly encouraged me to look further into attending ASU. After going on the campus tour and speaking to students, I officially decided that I wanted to be a Sun Devil. Choosing a major was hard for me because I struggled between wanted to major in psychology, getting on the path to be an orthodontist, or attending W.P Carey School of Business.
When I complete High school I want to go to either Florida International University or Miami Dade College for my first 2 years and then Florida International University for the rest of it. My first option would be going straight to FIU which is a state college. FIU has a fairly large amount of people in it, in 2012 around 50 thousand people enrolled into FIU. Florida International is an average ranked college, it has a 55% pass rate for people doing 6-year graduation plans. Their average retention rate is 83% meaning that a majority of their first year students don’t drop out.
As the first person in my immediate family to attend college, the bar was not set very high but I aimed for the highest anyways. With my father as my only support system, I had to get a job as soon as I graduated high school to help with my college tuition and other bills to keep us afloat. My first semester here at Florida International University was a bit challenging but I pushed through. I managed to receive and maintain a 4.0 GPA while working worked 25 hours per week, taking 15 credits and was involved in multiple extracurricular activities such as Student Ambassador, Hosa club, Peer Mentors and vice president of Phi Eta Sigma.
School has taught us about pollution, overexploitation, and unsustainable development. However, knowing about these things doesn’t mean I’ve put much thought into current environmental issues or done much to alleviate these problems. All of this said, I can’t be sure what the future holds and that road trip has given my mind a more substantial perspective of nature’s grandeur. Perhaps I will forfeit my plans to become a civil engineer for a career with an environmental major. That, or I could try to tackle the paradox of sustainable development as an environmentally conscious
At Portland State University, my goal is to attain a Bachelor of Science degree, and major in Computer Science. I am incredibly interested in computer programming, and am currently studying python, as part of a computer science course at my school. Recently, I went to preview day, which was the first moment that I visited PSU, and what I saw motivated me to apply. The beautiful campus, the clubs, and the way PSU weaves itself into the community are just a few reasons I’m eager for next year. The diversity I witnessed walking through each building was exhilarating, as well as the distinctive interests and talents of others.
