As a school that is “drawn by love to share the good news of God expressed through the life and gospel of Jesus Christ and to hasten His return” Loma Linda University has particularly appealed to me through its commitment to evangelism. Growing up as a member of the Coptic Orthodox Christian Church, I have continuously been taught to speak freely about my religion and my God and attending Loma Linda would allow me to remain doing so. One thing that makes Loma Linda so attractive to me is its dedication "to make man whole" in every aspect of being human. As an individual who is trying to grow mentally, professionally, and most importantly spiritually, I know that the Loma Linda University PsyD program will prepare me best in these aspects as I embark on this journey. …show more content…

I also strongly believe that now more than ever there is a great need for professional psychologists who are culturally sensitive and competent and who can therefore tailor their therapies to individual cultures to allow for the most effective treatment. Loma Linda’s offering of “doctoral training in psychology within an academically and culturally stimulating environment” allows me to trust that I will be excellently prepared. Being a part of a health science university will also allow me to be adequately trained in the mental health field. Through Loma Linda University’s many resources around the area such as the Mental Health Department of San Bernardino and the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial V.A.
