Emmett Till` Emmett Till was a boy who was killed by two white men at the age of 14 in Mississippi. Emmett Till was visiting his family in Money, Mississippi. Till was hanging out with friends and they went into a store. There are multiple rumors of what happened when Till and his friends entered the store. Emmett Till was apparently flirting with a white cashier. A few days later two white men hunted down Emmett Till, kidnapped him and then took him to a shed where they continued to beat him. They then took him to the Tallahatchie River, shot him in the head and left his body in the river. Emmett Till was born July 25, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. Wright wanted to take Emmett Till’s cousin Wheeler Parker to Mississippi with him, but Emmett was soon made aware of this plan. Emmett begged his mother to go to Mississippi and spend time with his cousins. Till’s mother was reluctant at first but let him go. It was this very decision that changed Emmett Till and his family and friend’s lives forever. Three days after his arrival in Money, Mississippi on August 24, 1955, Emmett Till apparently flirted with a white woman in a store. The white cashier he apparently flirted with was the wife of the owner of the store, Roy Bryant. Four days later Emmett Till was kidnapped from his home, beaten brutally, shot and left to rot in the Tallahatchie River. This left Emmett Till’s face unrecognizable. He was able to be recognized by the ring he was wearing engraved with his father’s initials. The people responsible for his death were Roy Bryant, the husband of the cashier and his half brother J.W. Milam. The two were tried in court but were able to escape with no punishment even though they stated they did in fact kidnap Emmett Till. They both died later on with Emmett Till’s blood on their
