The case of Richard New and Lake Cumberland Funeral Home v. The case was tried in the Commonwealth of Kentucky Court of Appeals. The story I wish to share this week for the written assignment is The Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert W. Service. The story is about a man named Sam McGee and his quest for riches during the gold rush along trail in the frozen Yukon Territory. As he traveled with his best friend Cap, he spent a great deal of time whining and complaining about how ever since he left his home in Tennessee he had been cold. Many nights Cap had to endure the same conversation revolving around this topic.
In the short passage by Kierstin Koppel titled “Humanizing Morticians,” she uses a lot of figurative language to give a mortician a wonderful personality. Koppel’s first sentence even depicts a very vivid scene, “The corpse lies bare under a white sheet waiting to be dissected and reconstructed through a series of surgical procedures” (Koppel). This sentence does not only describe an interesting scene, but it also grabs the reader’s attention by explaining what the passage is going to be about. Later, Koppel begins to explain her own point of view when it comes to being a mortician.
In this article, “The Mistreatment of Dead Bodies,” author Joel Feinberg argues the misunderstanding of using cadavers for organ donation, and research. Feinberg discusses the modern issue many people have with attaching sentimental value with a dead body, letting their values outweigh and halt the necessary uses for cadavers (31). On August 17, 2007 at 1:30 in the morning in Houston Texas a Nissan SUV was found inflamed and total. It was slammed by a Union Pacific Freight Train heading south bound. Embalming the elderly can be straight foward or very complicated depending on the medical conditions and severity of these conditions the decedent suffered from throughout life. Medications can pose their own problems in the prep room and physical conditions such as Kyphosis or arthritic conditions cause create a problem in the dressing room. I would begin by cleaning and disinfecting the decedent, first by using a topical disinfectant spray then by using a germicidal soap. I would then begin setting features starting with the closure of the mouth, I would use a needle injector if the decedent still had natural teeth and no signs of bone density loss, if the decedent has no natural teeth or displays signs of bone density loss then I would recommend use of mandibular or muscular suture to avoid damaging the mandable or maxillae. I would then use cotton or a mouth former and mortuary putty to begin smoothing any sunken areas in the face.

The bodies of a sixteen year old Leslie Arnold’s parents were found buried in their house’s backyard of Omaha, Nebraska after he confessed to the police about the killings. On September 27th, 1958, Leslie had into an argument with his parents over their family car. This led him to brutally shooting his parents and burying their bodies in a shallow grave behind their home. His parents were William Arnold, a 42 year old manager and his wife Opel who was about 40 years at the time of their death. Arnold and his 11 year old brother even stayed in the home alone since that time.
They both were returned to Dallas, Texas to be buried.

The Incident In 1998, Dr. Linda Reynolds of the Brooke Surgery in Hyde reached to John Pollard, who was the coroner for the South Manchester District, about Dr. Harold Shipman’s high rate of deaths of all of his patients. This was brought to the police attention and the police did not pay so much attention to it, assigning some of the newer police officers, which of course had little experience in being a police officer. These assigned police officers were unable to find enough evidence to charge Dr. Harold Shipman. Shipman’s investigation was then dropped and that same year Shipman killed 3 more people, with last victim being Kathleen Grundy, whose death certificate was recorded by Shipman stating that the cause of death was “old age.”
