English 1010 Assignments Boost My Reading and Writing Skills By tackling the five assignments of English 1010, I learned several important concepts. From the Literacy Narrative assignment, I learned how to use the Show, Don't Tell principle. The Rhetorical Analysis assignment enabled me to learn how to evaluate content for the ethos, pathos and logos components. Thanks to the Non-Academic Discourse assignment, I learned how to treasure non-academic discourse.
This chapter served as a guideline for whenever I find myself struggling with writing. I even looked back at it with this assignment because I was feeling insecure as to what I was writing. 1st Body: Whenever I get an essay assignment I begin to stress. I stress so much that my mind is completely useless.
English 1101 compositions 1 and FYE 1220 are both a freshman college course that’s required. English 1101 is taught in the writing and linguistics course. The goals for students in English learning outcomes, will expand flexible strategies to achieve to defined a reason of writing. Also it will formulate texts to look at their ideas in relations to those from a range of sources; and respond to different rhetorical situations and genre conventions taught by Professor A shows how it’ll make it a learning center course. In spite of that Professor D teaches FYE this seminar is “Math goes to Hollywood”
Anh T Vo Dr. Oxendine Engl 1301-81057 18 December, 2015 Reflection Before my English 1301 class started, I made a commitment for myself that I would get an A in this class. In order to achieve this goal, I make some short-term goals, try my best, and consider my behavior. All actions and thoughts, which I have made in this course, give me a fresh result as the end of the semester is coming. Being an ambitious student offers me opportunities to keep encourage myself study hard and believe that my effort will be paid off. Before this course started, I bought a required book.
How have I improved as a writer? I am thinking about my action plan as a writer have I improved, have I met the goals I set out to achieve on my first day of class, and what have I learned in this class? I will go over my time in this class and review the various topics I mentioned above and more. Looking back over my time in this class I will critique and praise myself. How I felt about writing when I first started this class compared to how I feel now, I would have to say I am more comfortable with writing.
Over the course of this class I have greatly improved my writing skills. Although I have kept my grade at a 95% for each paper, it is evident that I am a different type of writer from when I wrote my first paper in this class. By improving on quote integration, correct grammar, and strong thesis', I have been able to become a more skilled and better all around writer. It is especially clear to see the improvement in my spelling and grammar. On the first paper I made 6 mistakes, the second paper 4, and the final paper none.
In my writing at first I with many part of sentence structure and grammar. Trying to not mess up in structure I was unable convey my ideas. Over the course of the semester it has became easier by every essay. My improvement was some not severely, but learning the basic again will help me for all class and other English courses. Writing again was something I slowly was becoming accustomed again as before.
Throughout the semester in English 1102, I have been challenged to explore how love has affected my life. For this portfolio, I tried to incorporate the theme of love in a personal way. I found my love for running could be expressed well in this manner. An essential aspect of a team is ensuring that all members appreciate and trust each other. I think this is a perfect example of love.
All throughout my high school years I had a lot of trouble writing essays. I would constantly ask my teachers for help but I personally believe that I didn’t receive the adequate help to become a better writer. At the end of my senior year is when I encountered one of the most challenging writing assignments.
I never thought I could handle you being away from me. It has been exactly 11 months and two days since you have left me on this Earth. I am doing well with my life right now. I’m finally a senior and I have a job. I have been doing fine in school, but I know for sure what you would say, “You can always do better”.
I always believed English wasn't my strong-suit and now I had a very poor English1 grade to prove it. What I didn't realize at the time was that I had improved tremendously in my writing over the year. When I had an easier time in English2, I began to notice the improvement. It began with the first writing assignment of sophomore year.
English 1121 has helped me to become an enhanced reader and writer. I now have confidence in my writing and reading abilities. I never realized that I could become a good writer. A tremendous amount of effort was put forth into each of my papers and I asked questions whenever I was frazzled. I strived for success.
Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. But after taking this class, I did learn different writing technique and improved my writing proficiency, material body of formatting, and how to uncovering and properly use sources. Through class exams, essays, and a research paper, I was able to learn new writing skills. Although I have learned a variety of things, my writing still needs improvement.
Throughout this semester, I have learned a lot from this class about my strengths and weaknesses in my writing and my preparation for in class writing. From the writing opportunities that were available in this semester, I have understand that my technical skills, like grammar are one my strengths in writing. Moreover, another strength of mine is that I am willing to revise my work, so it can be free of errors. However, I have realize that I have many weaknesses in my paragraph and essay writing, and this is mostly caused by lack of development in the ideas that I put in my writing. On the other hand, I realized that my writing has improved when I compare my recent assignment to the first assignment that I did in this class, I can clearly see
Each essay I wrote took me several time to write, several drafts which show that I have improve every time I do the drafts to write a perfect masterpiece. I learned a lot of skills and techniques this quarter, which has helped me to improve and progress my writing skills for the future. I will remember the skills, techniques, and tips that professor gave us in this English class for my higher education. For example, all the time that I went to visit professor Sapozhnikov office hours to receive help on my out-of -class essays has helped me to improve, grow, and progress in my writing skills as a writer. Some of the significant changes I have made as I was progressing and growing were to develop a strong thesis to help support my claims as I write my essays, such as facts, observations, illustration, and examples.
