Throughout the years of learning and developing as a student, I have come across many different styles of writing and ways of incorporating this style into something worthy of a college paper. Going into English 111, I had but minimal practice as far as academic writing was concerned. Coming out of the class, I feel better equipped for a college setting as the words were taught to grow into a thing representative of both itself and its author. In saying this, I imagine the first thing I should discuss is the class itself. One of the biggest obstacles I had to face at the beginning of the semester was accepting that the class was a basis for me to grow, not something I was supposed to go into with all the knowledge that would later be taught to me. …show more content…

I believe I did this most effectively with the most recent research paper. There was something about the way I could placequotes and paraphrase that enabled me to let my own voice find its way across the text. I was able to effectively communicate all that I had learned while adding my own explanation and analysis to that. English 111 showed me ways to use another author’s voice and add my voice to it instead of simply appearing a spectator on the sidelines of a great game. Despite all this, I still have plenty of room to improve as a writer. Another thing that English 111 taught me is that you never stop learning how to write.
